Thomasboro board considers yard waste site

THOMASBORO — The site on North Thomas Street where residents have been dumping their yard waste was the most-discussed topic of the village board's monthly meeting.

"It's getting to be an eyesore," Village President Brad Morris said. "We all saw this coming."

Not only is there too much waste at the site but some of it includes furniture. The board agreed that there isn't space in the village for the waste, so trustees discussed outside options such as a possible partnership with the village of Rantoul and taking the waste to the Landscape Recycling Center in Urbana.

Morris said he would make some calls to interested parties, including private landscaping companies, and report back at the next meeting on Aug. 4.
