Loda OKs payment to contractor

LODA — The village board has signed off on its completed drainage project, which was funded by a federal grant, and agreed to pay contractor Steve Meuser the $59,400 it owes him.

The board also agreed to hire Meuser for additional work in the village. Loda will pay him $6,700 for grading, ditch and tile work in two areas of town where the streets are being degraded by excess water flow.

Also, Mayor Ron Dudley told the board he has been informed by the state transportation department of proposed work on U.S. 45 that is scheduled for later this year or spring of next year. The highway will be milled and repaved from south of Paxton and on through the five miles north to Loda, ending at the intersection with Washington Street.
