Police investigate battery and possible attempted sexual assault

CHAMPAIGN — Police are investigating a battery and possible attempted sexual assault Saturday afternoon in Champaign.

According to a police report, officers were called to the 300 block of East Daniel Street, Champaign, at 1 p.m. Saturday.

A woman said she was attempting to enter her apartment when a man approached her from behind and pulled down her skirt.

The man then ran down the stairs of the apartment complex and left the building.

The attacker was described as a black man with medium-to-dark complexion in his 20s. He is 6 feet tall with a thin to average build, short hair and no facial hair. He was wearing a white shirt and white pants that the victim described as a service uniform. He was also carrying a notebook.

No information was available on whether the woman was injured.
