Improvement projects in works at Georgetown-Ridge Farm

GEORGETOWN — A number of building improvement projects are taking place across the district.

"Things are noisy," Superintendent Jean Neal said, "but that is a good thing."

— District employees are patching and repainting the walls of the gymnasium and some classrooms at Mary Miller Junior High.

— Asbestos will be removed from the old unit office later this month in preparation of the building's demolition in August.

— Bacon & Van Buskirk Glass of Champaign is replacing two entrance doors at Pinecrest Elementary School.

— John Martin Plumbing, Heating & AC of Georgetown will install an air-conditioning unit in the band room at Mary Miller.

— And the Irwin Seating Co. of Altamont will replace the bleachers at Mary Miller, starting in September.

The G-RF school board issued $250,000 in life-safety bonds to pay for repairs and improvements.
