Saturday morning's heavy rains sent citizen journalism into overdrive. We asked for readers to submit photos — and they delivered in bunches. Three examples:
With her basement flooded for the second time in "30-some years," Sidney's Linda Thurman wanted to know why. So she had her son, Kevin, use the family drone for an aerial photo of flooding along County Road 1000 N. It showed what was to blame: an overflowing tributary of the Salt Fork.
Champaign's Summer Curry was taking her car in for service when she happened upon a water scene in front of Herff Jones on Market Street. It wasn't the only roadblock she encountered. "You're used to taking certain routes to certain places, but at every turn there was water," she said. "It was crazy."
David Krehbiel's bike ride around Urbana's Meadowbrook Park stalled at the west-side bridge over a swollen creek. Krehbiel, a longtime resident of Urbana, waded into knee-deep water to take his picture. "In my 25 years at our current house in Urbana, we've never seen flooding like this," he said.
