MONTICELLO — The school board will hear the final presentation of the Sage Voices campaign at 7 p.m. today at Monticello High School.
"If there's one school board meeting to go to, this is it," Monticello superintendent Vic Zimmerman said. "This is a pretty important time in the history of the school district."
Tonight's meeting is the culmination of nearly three years of discussion, planning and gathering of data and opinions.
Among the options that have been discussed: whether to build a new high school or remodel the existing one and whether to consolidate the elementary level system into a single building.
"I started talking to the board in November of 2011 about school facility future," Zimmerman said. "We'll have this meeting, then a board retreat, then (the board) will decide in early August if they want to place something on the ballot."
Results of a survey of 1,038 residents will be shared during tonight's meeting, Zimmerman said. "Then we'll make a recommendation to the board on whether to place something on the ballot."
"We narrowed the scenarios down based on feedback from the community," he said.
