Mattoon woman charged with molestation surrenders
Editor's note: Charges in this case were dismissed on Oct. 24, 2014.
URBANA — A Mattoon woman charged with participating in the sexual molestation of a child turned herself in to Champaign County authorities Tuesday.
Jacqueline Camfield, 32, also known as Jacqueline Carney, was charged last week with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and sexual exploitation of a child in connection with alleged acts that occurred in 2012 with a girl who was then 5 or 6 years old.
Camfield is alleged to have participated with Justin G. Allen, 33, of Monticello in molesting a child at a home in Rantoul then making the child watch as she and Allen had sex.
Rantoul police Sgt. Justin Bouse said his department has been investigating the case since early this year when the child, now 7, told authorities about an incident on an unspecified date in 2012 with Allen and Camfield when they lived in Rantoul. The Department of Children and Family Services has also been involved.
Allen was arrested and charged with the same offenses as Camfield last week and is due back in court Aug. 19.
Both are being held in lieu of $250,000 bond.
The more serious of the two charges — predatory criminal sexual assault — carries a mandatory prison term of between six and 60 years upon conviction.
