Potomac woman dies in crash in Iroquois County

WELLINGTON — A Potomac woman died from injuries she sustained in a single-vehicle accident Wednesday in Iroquois County.
 
Sarah A. Heffelfinger-Taylor, 29, of Potomac was pronounced dead at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, according to Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup.
 
According to the Iroquois County sheriff’s office, Mrs. Heffelfinger-Taylor was driving west on Iroquois County Road 500 North, east of Illinois 1, in Prairie Green Township at around noon. Her vehicle left the road, hitting a railroad embankment and becoming airborne before landing on the west side of the railroad property, the news release said. Northrup’s office said she died of multiple traumatic injuries.
 
Besides the sheriff’s office, also responding were the Wellington-Greer Fire Department, Milford Fire Department and Hoopeston Area EMS.
