Two hospitalized after weekend shootings in Danville
DANVILLE — Two men remain hospitalized Monday following two separate shootings in Danville over the weekend.
The men — identified only as a 19-year-old Urbana man and a 28-year-old Danville man — were each listed in good condition at an Urbana hospital, according to Public Safety Director Larry Thomason.
Thomason said police are still investigating the shootings and have made no arrests in either incident.
The first shooting occurred around 8:15 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of Harvey Street.
Police received a call of several shots being fired near McArthur Place, which intersects with Harvey Street. Reports indicated that someone ran when the shots were fired.
Thomason said a couple saw the victim, later identified as the Urbana man, in the road near Main Street and took him a Danville hospital.
He said the man had a gunshot wound to the leg. The man was transferred to an Urbana hospital where he underwent surgery.
The second shooting occurred around 4:50 a.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Chandler Street.
Thomason said the 28-year-old Danville man told police he had been at a party in the area. While outside, he said, he saw people running and heard shots fired.
Thomason said the man was struck in the abdominal area. He was able to get in his vehicle and drive to the local emergency room.
Thomason said the man was transferred to the Urbana hospital, where he underwent surgery.
Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact Danville police at 431-2250 or Crimestoppers at 446-TIPS (8477).
