Mansfield man charged with molestation
MONTICELLO - A Mansfield man accused of having sexual contact with teen-age girls has been formally charged.
Piatt County State's Attorney Dana Rhoades filed charges Friday against Paul Reynolds, 47, for contact that allegedly happened years ago.
He is charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony, alleging contact with a 15-year-old girl that happened between September 2005 and September 2006, and with sexual exploitation of a child, a Class 4 felony, for conduct that occurred in the spring of 2011 with a different 15-year-old girl.
If convicted of the more serious charge, he faces penalties ranging from probation to three to seven years in prison.
Piatt County sheriff's investigators have been investigating Reynolds for several months after one of the alleged victims came forward.
Reynolds was arrested June 27 and released from jail after posting bond. Rhoades said she planned to forward police reports about his conduct to Williamson County officials in southern Illinois for possible charges there as well.
He appeared in court in Monticello Monday and was told to be back in court Sept. 15.
