Prairiview-Ogden board OKs budget

ROYAL — The Prairieview-Ogden school board approved a tentative fiscal 2015 budget that is $112,163 in the black.

The $2.214 million budget includes anticipated expenditures of $1,808,500 and anticipated revenue of $1,813,000 in the education fund; $241,900 and $316,950 in the operations and maintenance fund; and $163,900 and $196,513 in the transportation fund.

Superintendent Vic White said the balanced budget came with a price.

"It is sad that we had to lay off certified employees to balance the budget because the state of Illinois (cut) our GSA (general state aid)," White said.

The board set a public hearing on the tentative budget for Aug. 11 at the Royal building.
