Woman injured in rural intersection collision

DEWEY - A woman was airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana Monday afternoon with injuries she received in a collision in northern Champaign County.

Champaign County sheriff's Sgt. Greg Mills said the accident happened about 2:15 p.m. Monday about two miles north of Dewey at the intersection of county roads 900 E and 3300 N in East Bend Township.

Mills said Amber Boyd, 23, no address available, was driving a car south on 900 E, when she apparently disobeyed the stop sign at 3300 N and collided with a box truck driven by William Baumgartner, 27. He was eastbound on 3300 N.

Mills said Boyd's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. Her condition was not immediately available this morning. Baumgartner refused any medical treatment, Mills said.

Boyd was issued tickets for disobeying a stop sign, not wearing a seat belt. having no proof of insurance and no registration.
