Future Five: Entertainment for the week ahead


"The Railway Man" comes out on DVD. Academy Award winner Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman star in this true story of a British army officer who was tormented as a prisoner of war in a World War II labor camp and what happens decades later when he finds out the Japanese man responsible for much of his treatment is still alive.


The Kennekuk Road Runners will hold a summer fun run and walk from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kickapoo State Park, 10906 Kickapoo Park Road, Oakwood. Entry for the 1-mile, 2-mile and 3-mile run or walk is free.


The Taste of Champaign-Urbana gets underway at West Side Park in Champaign. This annual festival features food and beverages from many of the community's restaurants. Friday's music lineup includes Craig Russo Latin Jazz, Beat Kitchen, Prince Night and 90's Daughter. The Taste of C-U concludes on Saturday.


The village of Broadlands celebrates its 125th birthday with a festival, including a bicycle parade, children's tractor pull, children's games, an antique tractor show and a fish and rib eye dinner. One highlight is expected to be the Broadlands Follies at 6 p.m. This year's show will include songs from each of the previous shows.


Check out the conclusion of the 20th annual Bluegrass in the Gardens music festival at Rockome Gardens near Arcola. Sunday's performers include Tommy Brown and the County Line Grass, Trinity River, Cornfields and Crossroads and the Burie Family.
