Man sent to prison for violating probation

URBANA — A registered sex offender who admitted he was around children in violation of his probation has been resentenced to prison.

Ulraick Brown, 38, whose last known address was in the 1600 block of Hunter Street, Urbana, admitted Monday to Judge Tom Difanis that he violated the conditional discharge sentence he received earlier this year for indecent solicitation of a minor.

He had pleaded guilty in February to trying to get a teen-age girl to engage in sex with him on Jan. 3 at a home in Urbana.

The state's attorney's office filed a petition to revoke his conditional discharge earlier this month after police found him staying at a home in the 1300 block of Silver Street where two young boys were present. Under the terms of Brown's probation, he was to have no contact with children under 18. Police found him during a sweep they conducted Aug. 7 of multiple sex offenders in the county.

Brown also admitted he had been living with a minor at a home on MacArthur in Urbana on June 18.

Brown was resentenced to three years is prison.

Assistant State's Attorney Troy Lozar said Brown has other convictions for aggravated criminal sexual abuse, failure to register as a sex offender, aggravated domestic battery, theft and possession of cannabis.
