More than 30 vehicles burglarized in Farmer City

FARMER CITY — Farmer City police and the DeWitt County sheriff's office are hoping that someone will contact them with information on a number of vehicle burglaries that happened in Farmer City early Thursday.

Between midnight Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday,about 34 vehicles all over town  were entered.

Farmer City police Sgt. Travis Brown said almost all the vehicles were unlocked and thieves took small items like change, electronic chargers and GPS devices.

Brown said if residents see or hear anything that seems out of the ordinary, they should call 911 or the police department immediately.

"People feel like they are bothering us but they are not. That's our job," Brown said.

People with information can call the Farmer City Police Department at 309-928-2111.

Anonymous tips can be submitted by phone to Clinton area Crimestoppers at 217-935-3333, or by submitting an online tip at dewittsheriff.com.

A cash reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
