Watseka man arrested in Hoopeston shooting

HOOPESTON — A 29-year-old Watseka man was arrested for a shooting in Hoopeston early Friday morning.

Responding to a call of shots fired at 2:25 a.m. in the 500 block of East Seminary Street, Hoopeston police found a 33-year-old man lying on the ground but not injured. The victim, whose name is not being released, told police he was shot at by a man he knows and provided a description of the suspect and what he was driving.

A Hoopeston police officer spotted the vehicle on Illinois 1, heading north into Iroquois County, stopped it and arrested Tyler J. Henady without incident. Police took him to the Iroquois County jail.

A warrant had been issued for Henady's arrest on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm and possession of a weapon by a felon. Henady is being held on $75,000 bond.

Henady has convictions in Iroquois County for battery causing great bodily harm, domestic battery, possession of a controlled substance, criminal damage to property, driving under the influence and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, according to court records there.

In Vermilion County, he was convicted in 2009 of battery, according to court records.
