Bank robbed in Danville

DANVILLE — Danville police are investigating a robbery that occurred at First Midwest Bank late Monday morning.

Public Safety Director Larry Thomason said police were alerted to an alarm from the bank, indicating a robbery was in progress, around 11:30 a.m. When officers arrived, the suspect had run from the area.

According to bank personnel, a white man entered the bank and approached a teller with a note, Thomason said. He said the teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash, then the man left the building.

The man did not display a weapon, and no one was injured, Thomason said.

Thomason added officers and K-9 units searched the area, but haven't caught the man yet.

The man was described as having a thin build. He was wearing a grayish-colored shirt and a white baseball cap.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police at 431-2250 or Vermilion County Crimestoppers at 446-TIPS.
