To celebrate her 100th birthday, Virginia Lovingfoss threw a party.

For three consecutive days.

On Friday, a crowd of about 100 joined her at Philo Tavern. On Saturday, another 100 celebrated with her at Clark-Lindsey Village in Urbana. On Sunday, a Burr/Lovingfoss/Dilley family reunion packed a park in Philo.

There was a cake at each stop. Despite her request for no gifts, Lovingfoss received a bunch of candy, a necklace that lights up and enough birthday cards to keep her reading until Labor Day. Partygoers traveled from as far away as California.

"She is still all aglow today," Clark-Lindsey's Karen Blatzer said Monday. "(She's) on a 100-year-old birthday bash high."

Lovingfoss, one of six centenarians at the retirement village, told me in March she never naps. This might be time for an exception.

"She was a party animal all weekend," Blatzer said.
