Police seek missing teen

CHAMPAIGN — Champaign police have asked for help in finding a missing teen who walked away from a group outing almost three weeks ago.

A release from the department said the guardian of Brandon Dominguez, 16, said he was last seen Aug. 12 when he separated from a group on the University of Illinois campus.

It was reported to police that he may still be in the area because he was spotted in downtown Champaign recently.

Brandon, who was staying at The Pavilion in Champaign, is described as a white male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hat, black T-shirt and black and gray shorts.

Police say his guardian is from the Rockford area.

Anyone with information on Brandon is urged to call 911 or contact the Champaign Police Department at (217) 351-4545.

I am perplexed. The article mentions an individual has been missing for 3 weeks and just now the police are asking the public for help. There may be more to this story than the article reveals. Nonetheless, I would hope that the police would ask for assistance sooner than 3 weeks when a citizen goes "walk about."
