Unit 7 board supports state education plan

TOLONO — The Unit 7 school board plans to adopt a resolution at its next meeting showing support for a new statewide education plan.

Developed by state organizations and educators, Illinois Vision 20/20 is a long-range blueprint for improving public education throughout the state. The plan focuses on four pillars: 21st century learning, highly effective educators, shared accountability and equitable and adequate funding.

"It's mostly because of the unfunded mandates out there," Unit 7 Superintendent Andrew Larson said. "We hope the legislature making the laws will listen."
