Superintendent named for DeLand-Weldon

DeLAND — The DeLand-Weldon school district has a new superintendent to pair with its new principal.

Jeff Holmes, who retired this summer after 11 years as Clinton's district superintendent, was introduced by school board members as D-W's new interim leader. He succeeds Gary Brashear, who submitted his resignation to the district earlier this summer.

Holmes is no stranger to central Illinois. Among his previous stops: Cissna Park, where he got his teaching start, coached volleyball and served as junior high/high school principal, and Maroa-Forsyth High, where he was principal.

Holmes and new D-W Principal Amanda Geary will hold a meet-and-greet at the school at 5 p.m. Wednesday, with registration to follow from 6-7:30 p.m.
