How old's your school?

How old's your school?

A quarter of the active public school buildings in Piatt County were up and running before World War I. Four in Champaign’s Unit 4 predate WWII. Where does your alma mater check in on the area’s aging-building list? With a hand from superintendents, principals, town historians and others, we tracked down the born dates for 178 current structures (pre-additions) — public and private, K through 12, from Arthur Christian to Yankee Ridge.

Unity East Elementary does not have a Tolono address.  It is several miles from Tolono, and has a Philo address.

The main problem with this list, is that some of these buildings have newer addtions to the original buiding, and the newer additions are much larger than the original building itself.

Sure, Unity High School was built in 1957, but that original 1957 building is only a fraction of what is there in use as a high school today.     Heritiage Junior High and Elementary is listed as being built in 1926, but that original 1926 building is only accounts for a small portion of what is there now, and most of it was built well after 1926.

Yes, this was a good exercise, but it has been poorly executed.   It is misleading and does not present the entire story.

And is that a correct use of an apostrophe in the title?
