Mental-health first-aid course set July 17 in Rankin

RANKIN — A mental-health first-aid course to help teenagers is being offered from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 17 at the Rankin United Methodist Church, 328 N. Main St.

The eight-hour course is free and open to anyone who encounters those ages 12 to 18. Anyone who completes the course will receive a three-year certification in youth mental-health first aid from the National Council of Behavioral Health.

Participants will learn a five-step action plan to identify young people showing signs of crisis and connect them with further help.
