Five wounded in shooting in Danville

DANVILLE — Danville police need help finding the person or people responsible for a shooting in that city early Saturday that left five people wounded.

A release from Cmdr. Joshua Webb of the Danville Police Department said officers were called to Seminary and Jackson streets just after 3 a.m. for shots being fired.

Officers confirmed that there had been a shooting at a party in that area. Shortly after that, they learned that five people had taken themselves to an area hospital for treatment.

Officers found and talked to three women and two men who were wounded. Police said none of their injuries appeared life-threatening.

The victims ranged in age from 17 to 37. One man and one woman were from Danville. The other three victims were visiting from Champaign.

Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to call Danville police at 217-431-2250 or Vermilion County Crime Stoppers at 217-446-8477.

Hell of a party going on that is still (bad pun, I know) poppin' at 3 am.

4 days a week I am usually up at 3 am getting ready to go to that job thing I have and be productive in society. Guess the people at the party must have had the day off. If good things don't happen after midnight, they certainly don't happen after 3 am.

I'm sure everyone there was playing Monopoly and drinking cider and the shooting of 5 people was all just a big misunderstanding, but I have been wrong before.
