Child-adoption informational event set Nov. 22 at courthouse

URBANA — A social and informational event for families that have adopted children and those interested in adopting will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 22 in the jury assembly room at the Champaign County Courthouse, 101 E. Main St., U.

There will be a short program at 9:30 a.m. and refreshments will be served.

Families who have completed an adoption in the past year are invited to attend, along with people interested in learning about the adoption process from lawyers and service providers.

This event is being held in connection with a national awareness day about children in foster care who are waiting for permanent homes. It's being hosted locally by Circuit Court Judge Randy Rosenbaum, with help and donations provided by attorney Ellen Bullock, the Orpheum Children's Science Museum, Curtis Orchard and the Champaign County Bar Association.
