Eastern Illinois Foodbank sets food distribution Dec. 9 in Rantoul

RANTOUL — The Eastern Illinois Foodbank and Gifford State Bank will be teaming up to distribute food to needy families.

All Champaign County residents who are financially eligible can pick up food from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 9 at the Community Service Center of Northern Champaign County, 520 E. Wabash Ave., Rantoul.

The food bank requests that people planning to attend bring their own boxes or bags to transport the food.

Eligibility is limited to people with a household income at or below 185 percent of the federal poverty level. That's a monthly income of up to $1,859 for one person, or $3,746 for a family of four.

Area businesses have been teaming up with the food bank to offer these one-day mobile food pantries. The cost for a business to get involved in a food distribution is $3,000.
