Urbana man pleads guilty to robbing bank in city's southeast

URBANA — An Urbana man faces a lengthy prison term when sentenced next month for a bank robbery that occurred in Urbana this past summer.

Larry Graham, 50, who listed an address in the 1100 block of Lanore Drive, pleaded guilty Wednesday to aggravated robbery, admitting to Judge Tom Difanis that on Aug. 21, he displayed a gun to a teller at Busey Bank, 2710 Philo Road, prompting the teller to hand over cash.

Assistant State's Attorney Dan Clifton said the robber entered the bank wearing a mask and demanded the cash while showing the butt of the gun.

Clifton said Graham was caught not far away and police recovered the mask, the cash and a BB gun. Graham admitted committing the holdup.

Clifton agreed to seek no more than 18 years in prison for Graham. Difanis set sentencing for Jan. 18.
