Followers of our Instagram account (@news_gazette) were quick to like photo editor ROBIN SCHOLZ's picture of 9-year-old JOVON RICHARDSON from Tuesday's "Shop With A Cop" event in Urbana.

Jovon's expression when told he had $100 more to spend was priceless.

"That whole look explains who he is," said his mother, TRACY HANNAH. "He's very outgoing and he loves surprises."

Mom surprised her three childen — Jovon and sisters JAMYRA and ANIYA — with the shopping spree made possible by Urbana police. They made their selections alongside Urbana Detective RICHARD COLEMAN.

Jovon, a third-grader at Rantoul's Broadmeadow Elementary, was up late beaming over his collection of toys from Farm and Fleet.

"He's a loving, caring kid," Hannah said. "All he could say is 'Thank you, Mommy.'"
