Shooting in Tilton under investigation

TILTON — The Vermilion County sheriff's department is investigating a shooting early Monday in Tilton that left one man injured and a 17-year-old under arrest.

Capt. Michael Hartshorn said in a release that deputies were called to the 2400 block of Georgetown Road about 12:30 a.m. for a person in a parking lot who had been shot.

The 40-year-old man, who was not identified, was taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana for treatment.There was no information provided about the extent of his injuries.

The victim told deputies he knew the person who shot him and had arranged to meet with him and others.

During the meeting, an argument started and several gunshots were fired.

A 17-year-old male was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a firearm.

No other information was released about the teen since he is a juvenile.
