Search on for suspect in Urbana shooting, home invasion

URBANA — Urbana police are looking for a man responsible for a home invasion and shooting early today.

Urbana police Lt. Rich Surles said about 2:30 a.m. police were sent to the 1300 block of West Bradley, where a 34-year-old man had been shot in the hand in his own home.

Police learned that the intruder entered through a window. The resident heard a noise, went to investigate and was confronted by the offender, who fired a shot that hit him in the hand.

The two men fought inside the house and several more shots were fired, Surles said.

The shooter eventually left the house through the window in which he entered.

Police are looking for a black male in his 20s, about 6-foot-3 and 250 pounds, with a full beard about an inch in length. He had black hair with short braids about an inch in length.

Police said he was wearing white jeans and a blue shirt and was armed with a black handgun.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Urbana police at 217-384-2320 or contact Crime Stoppers at 217-373-TIPS or 373tips.com or via the free "P3 Tips" mobile app.

Isn't the 1300 block of West Bradley in Champaign? Urbana police leading the search?

West Bradley does exist in Urbana as well.  1300W is about a block east of the city line.
