Original story:

FITHIAN — One man was killed and five others injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash late Friday night on Interstate 74 in western Vermilion County.

Illinois State Police at Pesotum said troopers found alcohol at the scene of the crash that killed a 27-year-old Danville man. His name has not been released.

Troopers are still trying to figure out which of the six young men in the Chrysler Pacifica was driving.

The crash happened at 11:27 p.m. near milepost 198, between Ogden and Fithian.

Preliminary information is that the driver was headed east when the sport utility vehicle left the road to the left, hit the median wires, overturned, then went into the westbound lanes of traffic.

The Danville man who died was ejected.

The others, all listed as being from Chicago and ages 15, 16, 18, 22 and 24, were taken to an area hospital.

The interstate was shut down in that area until almost 6 a.m. Saturday while an accident-reconstruction specialist collected information.

Police said they didn't know if any of the young men were wearing seat belts. No tickets have yet been issued as the crash remains under investigation.
