When she first pitched the idea of a Wall of Positivity, Oakwood High junior KATELYN BLANKENSHIP wasn't sure it would fly with the entire student body.

"To be honest, I was afraid the boys and some of the girls might try to deface it," Blankenship said. "But all in all, it's gone really well."

Inspiration can be found in every nook and cranny in the Vermilion County high school. Last fall, senior LANE WARREN painted uplifting quotes on the girls' and boys' bathrooms. As a busy hallway complement, Blankenship last week introduced the Wall of Positivity, with students using sticky notes to get their message across.

"Believe in yourself"

"Be kind to others"

"Love the life you live"

"Open your mind, it's beautiful inside"

Take that, KNUTE ROCKNE.

"I'm not trying to brag," Blankenship said, "but Oakwood is a really positive high school."

Borrowing the idea from Heritage High, Blankenship saw her school's wall fill up in a hurry. She supplied the sticky notes, classmates supplied the encouragement.

"It is a simple way to spread a good message," Principal TIM LEE said. "I haven't put a note on the wall yet, but you never know. I have definitely stopped to read it to get some affirmation for my day."
