UPDATE: At least one injured as fire truck, car collide on Illinois 1

TILTON — Police are on the scene of an accident on Illinois 1 that has closed part of the state highway.

A witness said it appears a tanker truck from the Kickapoo Fire Protection District that was on its way to a large blaze in downtown Westville collided with a passenger vehicle and overturned on the road at Ross Lane.

Tilton Ambulance, along with police and emergency medical personnel from other areas, are also on the scene. A helicopter was also called in to assist.

One ambulance has already taken away one person.

The accident closed both southbound lanes and one of the northbound lanes of Illinois 1. Southbound traffic was being detoured, while motorists heading north were asked to use caution while driving through the area.

Meanwhile, firefighters from Westville and other departments are on the scene of the large apartment fire in the downtown area.
