Champaign school board OKs preliminary designs for Central, Centennial

CHAMPAIGN — Preliminary images projecting what the next Central and Centennial will look like received the Champaign school board's approval Monday night, setting the stage for more detailed designs of the two high schools.

Greg Doolin, a representative from O'Shea Builders, called the early design plans — shown at recent district-sponsored open houses — a good starting point.

"We feel like we've got our feet set well," Doolin said. "There's a lot of work to get the drawings and everything ready for bidding."

Board member Amy Armstrong said the public will continue to get a chance to weigh in as new images are created.

"The staff will drive those open houses where the community gives the feedback and we collect it," Armstrong said.
