URBANA — OSF HealthCare and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois have reached an agreement covering OSF’s newly purchased hospitals in Urbana and Danville, making them once again in network for Blue Cross clients.

The multi-year agreement is effective immediately and is retroactive to Feb. 1, the date OSF assumed ownership of what is now OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana and OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, Peoria-based OSF said Friday.

“We are pleased to have finalized a continuation of OSF HealthCare’s relationship with BCBSIL that ensures patients and families in the Urbana and Danville areas have in-network access to the treatments and services they need,” said Dr. Jared C. Rogers, president of both local OSF hospitals. “We realize this situation caused significant concern for our patients and families, and appreciate the support and patience of local businesses and community leaders.”

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois spokeswoman Colleen Miller said the company was happy to share the news that an agreemeent was reached with OSF on Friday.

Any claims submitted for the insurers’ members at the two hospitals dating back to Feb. 1 will be considered at in-network rates, she said.
