Iowa truck driver injured in Vermilion County crash

DANVILLE — An Iowa truck driver was seriously injured in a crash on Interstate 74 Tuesday night.

Illinois State Police said just before 7:30 p.m., the 62-year-old man, whose name was not made public, was driving east on I-74, about two miles east of the Bowman Avenue exit when he lost control of his rig for an unknown reason.

His flatbed trailer left the highway and went in the median, hitting the cable barrier for about 100 feet before crashing into the concrete bridge support.

The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, had to be cut out of the truck. He was taken to an area hospital.

Police issued him a ticket for improper lane usage.
