Top of the Morning, March 6, 2018

On Tuesdays, we'll introduce the kids behind "High School Confidential." Today: Hoopeston Area seniors DANIEL BASS and ARIEL REEVES, who have thoroughly enjoyed their time as Cornjerkers.

Bass, headed to Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind., credits "all of the teachers. ... They all go out of their way to assure the student that someone cares about them."

Added Reeves, who will pursue athletic training — and play softball — at Danville Area Community College: "It is a great environment for learning and reaching your goals."

On Thursday, Bass and Reeves will take over our Snapchat account. Follow along by searching for "news-gazette" on the app.

Will we see the area's most famous mascot, Jerky?

"I think so," Bass said. "That's the most recognizable thing about Hoopeston. Everywhere I go, I'm asked about it."
