Ives to hold campaign rally Wednesday at Willard Airport

SAVOY — Republican gubernatorial candidate Jeanne Ives is scheduled to appear at Flightstar Corp. on Wednesday at Willard Airport.

The Wheaton state representative who is challenging Gov. Bruce Rauner in Tuesday's Republican primary is slated to be at a Flightstar conference room at about 6:30 p.m. for a campaign rally.

It will be only her second public appearance in Champaign County since announcing her candidacy.

Ives, 53, elected to the Illinois House in 2012, is a graduate of West Point Military Academy with a bachelor's degree in economics. She is running to the right of Rauner in the GOP primary and has picked up the endorsement of some of the more conservative members of the Legislature.

Among the more than $3.6 million in campaign contributions she's received is $10,000 from state Rep. Reggie Phillips of Charleston.

But the majority of her financial support has come from Richard Uihlein of Lake Forest, a former ally of Rauner, who has contributed $2.5 million to Ives' campaign.
