UI paid T-Pain $50K to perform at Spring Jam

URBANA — $50,000.

That's how much the University of Illinois paid Faheem Rashad Najm, better known as T-Pain, to perform at this year's Spring Jam, according to his contract, obtained through an open records request.

The rapper known for 2000s hits such as "Bartender" and "Buy You a Drank" performed April 29 on the Quad for a free concert just for UI students.

Spring Jam is organized by the Illini Union Board, the State Farm Center and Star Course, a student-led concert promotion organization.

This was the fourth annual Spring Jam, which in the past has brought Post Malone, Timeflies, Hoodie Allen and B.o.B to campus.
