Former Fluid Event Center could soon have new owner

CHAMPAIGN — There may be a buyer for the former Fluid Event Center in Champaign.

A sale of the property at 601 N. Country Fair Drive is pending, and the prospective buyer is in the midst of conducting its due diligence, according to Bruce Hage, a Bloomington broker and property manager.

The identity of the buyer and possible plans for the building aren't being disclosed for now, he said.

The Fluid Event Center ceased operating as an events venue more than a year ago. The building last housed the short-lived Leadbelly's Links, Drinks and Arcade.

The property has been listed for lease or sale, with the sales price set at $2.75 million.

Jeff Marino, a senior planner with the city of Champaign, said the property owner spoke with city staff about six to eight months ago to discuss possible reuses for the building.
