In 1918, Champaign County Food Administrator R. D. Burnham said surplus flour (everything over a 30-day supply) would be confiscated for the use of the U.S. Army.

In 1968, Raymond Ronk of Champaign helped stop a car from rolling into Kaufman Lake, saving a father and five children from possible injury.

In 2003, Marco Rivera made an application with the village of Rantoul for an entertainment and liquor license to open a Latino-oriented disco club near the Rantoul Rural King store.
