Henson's Illini Hall of Fame induction: 'This is a big one'

For MARY and LOU HENSON — the First Couple of Champaign-Urbana — Friday’s celebration
of the second Illini Hall of Fame class is reason to smile. The coach, 86, will be rocking his orange blazer when he is recognized in Chicago. Some fast facts about the ceremony:

Lou Henson is one of 21 former Illini who will be recognized during Friday night's second annual Hall of Fame Gala in Chicago.

2.

Of the 21, 17 are former UI athletes and four are former Illinois coaches, with 13 living members expected to attend Friday's celebration that starts at 6:30 p.m.

3.

Rece Davis of ESPN will emcee Friday's event at the Field Museum of Natural History a year after Mike Tirico of NBC Sports did the honors.
