Weekend Top 10, June 15, 2018

Places to be and things to see this weekend, courtesy of staff writer Tim Mitchell:

A night at the Opry

Ever want to see somebody dress up like Jerry Lee Lewis and sing like him‚ only with an English accent? Check out singer Terry Lee’s show at 7 p.m. Friday at the Bement Country Opry in Monticello.

Wrestling mania

The mighty Seth Rollins takes on the legendary Elias for the Intercontinental Championship at WWE Live! at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at State Farm Center. Who will win? Certainly, no one knows in advance.

Ready for a dip

Take a turn in the dunk tank at Bondville’s Sesquicentennial and Bondville Fire Department 60th Year Celebration from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Village Park.

Zipping along

Give credit to the folks of Cerro Gordo for turning their ZIP code (61818) into a festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday (6/18/18). Among the highlights: a salsa-making contest.

Park it here

Fly your own kite — or learn how to make one — from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Day at Meadowbrook Park in Urbana.

'That’s a good dog'

Our four-legged friends will take center stage at Saturday’s Read To A Dog program (10 to 11 a.m. at the Mahomet Public Library).

Tractor beams

When DeWitt County farmers aren’t debating the price of beans, they’ll head to the C.H. Moore Homestead DeWitt County Museum in Clinton for its annual tractor show 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

That's fair

The Piatt County Fair this weekend in Cerro Gordo features something called “knockerball” each day at 5 p.m.

Music by the lake

The Backdoor Cajun Band says it provides “the real deal feel of Cajun country,” which is fine as long as gators aren’t involved. Matt Turino on the fiddle, Sam Payne on guitar, Randy Cordle on the bass and Rob Krumm on the accordion perform at Urbana’s Crystal Lake Park lake house at noon Friday.

It's in the Cards

House of Cards is a seven-piece band from Danville that plays rock, blues and R&B. Check out the band’s music from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Temple Plaza in downtown Danville.
