In 1918, a judge ruled that Walter McMillan must continue to pay $40 a month in alimony to his former wife, Olive McMillan, even though the man was serving in Europe in the Great War.

In 1968, Gus Bjorklund was named manager of the Champaign Sears store at 322 N. Hickory St. in Champaign. He had joined Sears in 1953as a camera salesman.

In 2003, The Illinois Public Health Department announced it would make the smallpox vaccine available for anyone who had been exposed to monkeypox.
