If the weather doesn't cooperate for today's 7 p.m. University of Illinois Summer Band concert on the Quad, they'll open the doors to Foellinger Auditorium.

Just like the old days.

For more than 100 years, the "Twilight Concert" series has entertained campus crowds, many times inside Foellinger by design.

However, it's hard to top the outside atmosphere that reminds when "concerts in the park were part of weekly traditions in towns and cities across the country," said Marching Illini director BARRY HOUSER. "People bring their dogs, they ride their bikes, they bring food. It's really a fantastic atmosphere."

Tonight's concert, which kicks off a yearlong celebration of the UI bands' 150th anniversary, will include favorites like "Illinois Loyalty," "Cheer Illini" and "Oskee Wow Wow."

"We're just finishing the sesquicentennial for the University of Illinois," Houser told SCOTT BEATTY on WDWS 1400-AM. "We just get to continue to have a party next year."
