Carle CEO expects donations to UI med school to pick up now that it's open

URBANA — The head the Urbana-based Carle Foundation expects fundraising for the new Carle Illinois College of Medicine to pick up now that officials actually have something to show to donors.

Carle President and CEO Dr. James Leonard said on WDWS' Morning Show that he expects individual donors and corporations to get on board now that the college's first class is on campus and work has begun.

Classes officially started Monday, coinciding with news that the UI had pledged up to $25 million over 10 years to the college to account for a fundraising shortfall.
