UPDATE, noon Thursday:

CHAMPAIGN — A Rantoul truck driver was cited for driving too fast after his semitrailer truck overturned on an interstate ramp Wednesday afternoon in west Champaign.

A release from Illinois State Police said at 5:12 p.m., Gary Lawson, 40, was southbound on Interstate 57 and got on the ramp to go east on I-72. He lost control of his rig, which ended up rolling on to its driver’s side in the ditch.

Lawson was not hurt but the ramp was closed for five hours while the truck was uprighted and moved.

CHAMPAIGN — A semi rollover has forced the closure of a ramp on the Interstate 57/Interstate 72 interchange.

Illinois State Police District 10 tweeted about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday that troopers were on the scene of the accident on the ramp from southbound I-57 to eastbound I-72. State police expect the ramp to be closed for at least five hours.

Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and use caution in the area.
