UI doctoral student accused of exposing himself at least 3 times since August

URBANA — A University of Illinois doctoral student who allegedly exposed himself on at least three occasions in Campustown has been charged with public indecency.

Akid Ornob, 25, who listed an address in the 300 block of East White Street, Champaign, was arraigned Tuesday on three counts of the Class A misdemeanor, all alleging that he exposed his sex organ in a public place in a lewd manner for his own sexual gratification.

The incidents allegedly occurred on Aug. 22, 2017, near Third and Healey streets in Champaign; on Sept. 27, 2017, near the 500 block of East White Street, Champaign; and on June 8, near the 600 block of South Fourth Street in Champaign. A map of the locations is below:

UI police questioned Ornob on June 27 and he made admissions that prompted them to give him a notice to appear in court Tuesday, which he did.

Ornob asked Judge John Kennedy for a continuance to hire an attorney. He remains free on his own recognizance and is due back in court July 24.

If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of up to 364 days in jail.
