Eight days after his wife strolled into the clubhouse at Lincolnshire Fields Country Club with news of her hole-in-one, JERRY GORMAN did the same thing Thursday in Champaign.

"As I was walking in, I'm thinking, 'Am I going to have to take a polygraph test?'" Jerry said. "It's got to be very odd. For it to occur eight days within each other ... crazy."

CATHY and Jerry Gorman are very good at golf. She's a past club champion and regular on the C-U women's golf scene. He owns a single-digit handicap.

But better golfers than them have gone their whole career without a hole-in-one. After their rare two-in-eight-days feat, they have combined for four (two each).

Their secret?

"Sometimes the hole gets in the way," Jerry said.

Cathy — Central Class of '71 — aced No. 16 in late July for short-lived family bragging rights. Jerry — Central Class of '70 — aced No. 13 "while playing hooky from work."

Good thing he had a playing partner (CHUCK RUTAN) to verify what many of us find hard to believe.

"A unique feat for sure," said Lincolnshire Fields General Manager JUSTIN WAFFLE said. "It's got to be one in a million."
