Today is Friday, Aug. 10, 2018. Here are local news reports from 100, 50 and 15 years ago:

In 1918, E. P. James, a pioneer and early settler of Piatt County, died at his home in Mansfield at age 84. He was one of the first settlers who started the development of Piatt County.

In 1968, John Neils, executive director of the Champaign Chamber of Commerce, said the community was throwing its support behind the proposed Chamapign to Monticello to Decatur Expressway.

In 2003, entertainer and Champaign native Nancy Hays, who sang both country and big-band music, performed both genres at five separate concerts at the Illinois State Fair.
